Health worker in New York City is suffering from a ‘significant allergic reaction’ to the coronavirus vaccine

NEW YORK (WABC) – A health worker in New York City suffered a “significant allergic reaction” to the coronavirus vaccine.

The health worker with the Mount Sinai System has been treated and is in stable condition.

The response has been reported to the CDC, which will likely publish a case report.

This is the only report of a serious side effect in New York City to date.

As of Wednesday morning, more than 30,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered in New York City.

The city said in a statement, “Vaccines have side effects and allergic reactions – although uncommon – are common. We also know that based on clinical trials and adverse event reports in other jurisdictions, reactions such as these are rare, but reported with the Pfizer. The city’s health department is closely following reports of more serious side effects in conjunction with the CDC, and this is the first serious side effect we have encountered in New York City. to ensure that health workers, nursing home workers and residents are protected from COVID-19. “

On Tuesday, the city launched a campaign to build confidence in the vaccine and convince not just emergency responders but all New Yorkers that the vaccines are safe and effective.
