Health trusts they will be getting ‘vaccines’ soon, but they don’t specify an arrival date

Santo Domingo, RD.

Ivelisse Acosta, Deputy Health Minister Coletiva, said the Dominican Republic will soon have vaccines, but no date was specified as she said she would rather be conservative on that matter.

“When giving dates you run the risk, so it is good to say third or fourth week. It has been a matter of flux with the manufacturers. And it is not just here. It’s a recurring situation. There are countries that have stopped vaccinations because they didn’t have it, ‘Acosta said this morning.

The deputy minister insisted that the country would soon have vaccines available. “We will have vaccines and we will have them soon, I dare not tell you the date,” he said.

Ivelisse Acosta pointed out that the logistics for vaccinations are there, that they exist. “That’s where the freezers are,” he also said when he revealed that 3 more freezers have been purchased to ensure logistics for preservation.

“The logistics with Pfizer, that’s the special one, is available in the country. The training is the same. It’s a vaccine, new in a pandemic, but it’s the same vaccination as always. It’s another vaccine, ”Acosta said.

Eddy Pérez Then, special advisor on the response to Covid, said negotiations have taken place with all the pharmaceutical companies that currently have vaccines. “We intend to have (vaccines) soon. It is very risky to mention a specific date. The whole world is waiting for the arrival of vaccines. Most importantly, all vaccines have demonstrated safety and efficacy, ”he said.

The health minister acknowledged that they had problems with the delivery of the vaccines that were contracted. Plutarco Arias has not specified the date when the country could receive its first doses.
