After Sunday the first case of the new virus strain, known as B117, in Tamaulipas, Monday, two possible cases were mentioned: one there and another in Nuevo León, but the last one died today, as reported by the Nuevo León Health Secretariat.
Manuel de la O Cavazos, head of the Nuevo León health secretariat, reported on Monday that a person suspected of being a carrier of the new English strain had been detected from 30 confirmed cases, so a sample was sent to the Diagnostic Institute and Epidemiological Reference (Indre).
The health minister said when the viral genome sequence was created a 96.3 percent identity was found with the B117 strainIt has therefore been decided to send a test to Indre, which has not been confirmed or ruled out so far and the results are still awaited.
On Tuesday, however, Manuel de la O pointed it out the patient was a 60-year-old male that he was receiving medical care at Pemex Hospital and that he had two co-morbidities besides his age: diabetes and hypertension, which made his care difficult.
First suspect dies
And last but not least, this Tuesday he officially passed away from the virusbut it is still pending that it can be confirmed or ruled out whether it is the B117 strain, from the UK, and while it appears to be an isolated case of the one confirmed in Tamaulipas, they don’t have more details yet given.

What we know is that hethe family of the deceased patient is already covered by the health protocols and the husband’s wife, two sons and daughter-in-law are observed with the aim of stopping the outbreak in case he is confirmed to be a carrier of the B117 strain.

The first case is still being intubated in Tamahulipas, but after its formation, a screening of other possible cases was performed, identifying three people who traveled with him from CDMX to Tamaulipas, two of which were negative for the virus.

A third remains a suspectThis is because it showed symptoms of the virus, and if confirmed, tests will be done to see if it is a carrier of the new strain, but for now it is waiting for results.
It should be remembered that this new variant of the species was discovered in the United Kingdom in September And while it’s no more deadly than the others, it’s 70 percent more contagious, which is believed to have caused a serious health problem in Queen Elizabeth II’s country.
