WarnerMedia and Roku have reached a deal to make the HBO Max streaming service available to Roku’s 46 million active users starting Thursday, December 17. The service will continue to be available for $ 15 per month. News of a WarnerMedia-Roku deal comes at an opportune time for HBO Max, who will be streaming Patty Jenkins’ comic book tent pole “Wonder Woman 1984” on December 25. The film will launch on HBO Max for 31 days on the same day it opens in select theaters.

Roku joins Amazon Fire TV, Comcast, Apple TV, and Playstation 5 as services offering HBO Max. Many Roku users were hoping that HBO Max would arrive on the platform after WarnerMedia announced that it would move its entire 2021 movie release to the hybrid theatrical-HBO Max release model. As with “Wonder Woman 1984”, tent poles such as “Dune”, “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “The Matrix 4” will stream on HBO Max for 31 days from the same day they open in theaters.
