We got our first look at it Halo infinite, the next game in Microsoft’s massive franchise, in July, and the results were … disappointing. The graphics and visuals weren’t as impressive as you’d expect from a next-generation game (the demo ran on a PC “which is representative of the experience players will have on Xbox Series X”), and one vacant-looking enemy even became the infamous Craig meme. The match was postponed to 2021 a few weeks after the demo aired to ensure that the team has enough time to complete a Halo game experience that matches our vision. “
However, developer 343 Industries shared new screenshots of it on Thursday Halo infinite in 4K from a development PC version of the game, and the graphics look a lot of better. We’ve included a few of the images below and I recommend checking out and zooming in on the full versions on the Halo Waypoint blog – the screenshots are packed with detail. (We’ve also included direct links to the full-size images in captions.)
While watching this one, there are a few caveats to keep in mind: we don’t know how powerful this PC is, we don’t see the game moving, we don’t have a good idea what the game will look like on consoles right now, and marketing graphics are not always translated to what you might see in the final product. Still, for Halo fans who have been looking forward to Halo infinite, these screenshots make it look like the game will look good on the right hardware.

The game also has a day / night cycle, which you can see in this collage of images curated by 343 Industries.
