DETROIT – With the announcement that six new vaccination clinics will open early this week, some seniors – like 83-year-old Janice Coutilish – are wondering if this is finally their chance to get the vaccine.
ORIGINAL STORY: Wayne County Announces New Senior Vaccination Clinics
“I’ve actually talked to some of the ladies, mainly because they’ve all indicated that they’re all waiting,” said Coutilish. “I think that will certainly benefit everyone.”
Starting Tuesday, the free clinics Melvindale, Romulus, the city of Wayne, Canton Township and Plymouth will be combined on one faculty with Highland Park and Hamtramck. Seniors should contact the nearest faculty to make an appointment.

“Until now, especially in the Wayne community, everything was in the Detroit area and very little elsewhere,” said Coutilish. “I hope they will spread it out a bit now.”
Wayne County has issued more than 36,601 vaccines to date. Another 13,000 are planned for this week alone. Coutilish just wants to go ahead and stop.
‘We waited a whole year. We kind of followed all the rules, and just, you know, been patient and now everyone’s worried, ”Coutilish concluded. “Everyone’s just scared, but six should help, I think.”
Note: Remember again that these vaccines are only for residents in the specific communities.

“Every resident vaccinated brings us closer to ending the pandemic,” Evans said. “I also want to thank the State of Michigan for working with Wayne County to make sure we have more doses to vaccinate our seniors faster. The vaccine distribution process is constrained by the available vaccine – which no one gets enough of – but Wayne County is as quick as we get it. “
