Moncef Slaoui, who was chief scientist on Operation Warp Speed, the US federal government’s Operation Warp Speed, was fired as chairman of the board of Galvani Bioelectronics on “ substantiated ” sexual harassment allegations, it was announced Wednesday.
Slaoui’s board of directors termination of Galvani’s majority shareholder GlaxoSmithKline came after receiving a letter “ allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct towards a GSK employee by Dr. Slaoui, which occurred several years ago while he was employed by GSK. , ”said GSK.
“Upon receipt of the letter, GSK’s board of directors immediately launched an investigation of an experienced law firm to investigate the allegations,” GSK’s statement said.
“The investigation into Dr. Slaoui’s behavior substantiated the allegations and is ongoing.”
GSK said in its statement, “Dr. Slaoui’s behavior is completely unacceptable.”
“They represent an abuse of its leadership, violate company policy and violate the strong values that define GSK’s culture,” the statement said.
“The company expects everyone at GSK to act in accordance with its values, especially its leaders where standards are the highest. Sexual harassment and any abuse of leadership position are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.”
Christopher Corsico, senior vice president of development at GSK and a current member of Galvani’s board of directors, has been appointed as the new chairman of Galvani.
GSK also said Amy Altshul, the senior vice president of legal affairs, R&D and global commercial franchises, has been appointed to the board of Galvani.
