Baby X AE A-XII just got its first haircut.
The curiously named child’s mother, pop star Grimes, gave him a trim at home and shared the results on her Instagram Stories Thursday.
“I’m not sure this haircut went well, but he’s now a Viking,” the “Delete Forever” singer signed a photo of her 8-month-old son, which she shares with partner Elon Musk, with a new mohawk style. ‘do in the bad.
The musician, 32, also shared a photo of herself clipping her son’s tresses with scissors, perhaps taken by 49-year-old Musk. She explained that the cut was inspired by the historic British TV series ‘The Last Kingdom’.
“Hairstyle inspired by the last kingdom on Netflix, a masterpiece,” she wrote.
Grimes and Musk welcomed their first child in May 2020. The power couple initially named the newborn “X Æ A-12 Musk” but were forced to change it to “X AE A-XII” because special characters and numbers are prohibited by California law.
Grimes previously tweeted that the X is the “unknown variable” in algebra, while the Æ (now AE) refers to the “elven spelling of Ai (love and / or artificial intelligence).” The A-12 (now A-XII) at the end was inspired by the Lockheed Archangel-12 aircraft.
As for how it is pronounced? “I mean, it’s just X, the letter X,” Musk told podcast host Joe Rogan. “And then the Æ, like, is pronounced ‘Ash’ … and then A-12, A-12 is my contribution.”
“My partner is the one who actually came up with the name,” added the Tesla CEO. “Yes, she’s good at names.”
