Greta Thunberg is facing an investigation in India about protest tweets on farms

Greta Thunberg accidentally shared a message showing that she was told what to write on Twitter about the ongoing violent peasant uprising in India – which led to police there tracking down criminal conspiracies on Thursday.

The 18-year-old left-wing eco-activist shared – and then quickly deleted – a message listing ‘proposed messages’ about the ongoing protests, according to messages that were saved by Breaking 911.

The list gave a range of tips on what to post, asking her to post and tag other celebrities tweeting about it as well, including pop star Rihanna.

In addition to the Twitter storm, the “toolkit” she shared also suggested highlighting planned demonstrations at Indian embassies.

The social media campaign material and template were created by the Canadian Poetic Justice Foundation, which claims to be a grassroots group that “creates events to provoke, challenge and disrupt systemic inequalities and prejudice,” Times Now said. The group’s website confirms that it is “most actively involved in the #FarmersProtest.”

The group then shared on Facebook a series of screenshots of the messages celebrities appear to have shared.

After deleting from the list, Thunberg then shared a supposedly newer “toolkit” and a message that read: “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.”

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a rare statement accusing ‘foreign individuals’ and celebrities of ‘sensationalism’ and ‘trying to enforce their agenda’.

Delhi police also opened a formal investigation, accusing her of creating disharmony and being part of a larger conspiracy, Times Now said.

Police filed an initial information report – a preliminary formal investigation – on charges of promoting intergroup hostility and criminal conspiracy, the report said.

A string of high-profile Indian celebrities also joined the attack on celebrities abroad who became involved in the peasant uprising that has gripped India for more than two months.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut even called the protesting farmers “terrorists” and Rihanna a “fool” for her widespread tweet asking her 100 million Twitter followers, “Why aren’t we talking about this ?!”

Thunberg remained challenging on Thursday. “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest,” she says tweeted Thursday morning.

“No amount of hatred, threat or violation of human rights will ever change that.”
