Governor appoints Kermit Lucena as controller

Governor Wanda Vázquez this morning appointed authorized public accountant Kermit Lucena Zavala as the auditor of Puerto Rico.

Lucena Zavala’s nomination must be reviewed by both legislative chambers.

Lucena Zavala was Chair of the College of Certified Public Accountants between 2014 and 2015.

A few months ago, the legislature blocked the appointment of Public Affairs Minister Osvaldo Soto to the same position, among other things by stating that he was not a chartered accountant or financial expert.
