Government prepared to vaccinate all adults from 1 May

The adjutant general of the National Guard in Puerto Rico, José Reyes, said today that Puerto Rico is on track to make all adults eligible for the vaccine by May 1.

These statements were made during his visit to the massive “one-off” vaccination event in Naranjito, where 1,500 doses were to be administered at the end of the day, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the municipality.

“Nearly 100,000 doses are arriving in Puerto Rico in what is Pfizer and Moderna and now they are increasing with these doses (from Johnson & Johnson),” he told Metro.

Reyes assured that this supply will increase in the coming weeks until Puerto Rico receives 120,000 to 140,000 weekly doses, which would lead to the vaccination being expanded to more adults.

“The vaccination plan did not need to be changed, it was part of the expectations that were evaluated, different fronts will be reached, the permanent and temporary vaccination centers will be enlarged in different cities. As a single dose we can speed up, ”he continued.

Last night, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, ordered anyone over the age of 18 to begin on May 1.
