Delegates from the Special Commission to investigate the systematic irregular actions of the executive branch affecting the treatment, prevention and control of the pandemic asked Public Works Ministers Romeo Rodríguez; and from Health, Francisco Alabí, for the delay in the completion of phase 3 of the hospital in El Salvador.

The head of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) dodged the question about the delay, saying the legislature has not given money to restore the hospital network or carry out activities for the pandemic.

Deputy Elizabeth Gómez recalled that the Assembly approved the government $ 15 million for the hospital in El Salvador, in addition to having recently given $ 60 million for operations.

“Between March and April, we approved different budgets for you (the government) because you had no money, so how do you explain everything you did,” said FMLN Deputy Elizabeth Gómez.
He added that the minister did not say whether there is an environmental impact study for the construction of the El Salvador hospital annex building, which they said was preliminary at the start of construction, and then changed the speech to say it would be permanent.
“We ask for all necessary permits to be able to carry out the infrastructure. I’ve already responded, we’ve done all the relevant legal procedures, we’ve done it correctly, ”said Rodríguez.
Health Minister Francisco Alabí said when questioned about phase 3 of the hospital that two phases are already working.
“Phase 3 of the hospital and that response is given by the minister (of the MOP) is being formulated, this infrastructure is being completed, which is being implemented, some more deepening of it, and explain that we currently already have the necessary capacity for part of the first and second stages, ”said Alabí.
