HARRISBURG (KDKA) – Governor Tom Wolf and Dr. Rachel Levine announced a new phased plan for the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in Pennsylvania.
So far, this is the fourth draft of a vaccine plan from Pennsylvania officials.
According to Levine, the state has refined which health workers qualify for Phase 1A and added Phase 1B and 1C.
“This update aligns our plan with the latest ACIP and CDC recommendations,” said Levine. Phase 1A is further defined to identify specific healthcare providers. Stage 1B is now a significantly larger group of people, including those 75 and older, those with serious health conditions, and essential workers. This update also creates a Phase 1C, which is those people aged 65-74 and those with high-risk conditions such as cancer, COPD, heart disease, and pregnant women, and those essential workers who are not included in Phase 1A or B. “
Key employees in Stage 1C include public security officers, funders and bankers, media members, government employees and members of the judiciary to name a few.
Stage 2 now includes anyone aged 16 or older who was not covered in stage 1.
The Ministry of Health also drew attention to a comments form that can be filled out to provide feedback on vaccine distribution plans. You can find that link here.
