Gord is an imaginative city builder with ‘adventure strategy’ quest

Although my city will deteriorate quickly and my tribe probably won’t survive, I’m going to try my luck

We will never run out of city builders and management games, but what about something like that GordIt immediately stands out for its roots in Slavic folklore, a survival-oriented premise, and the ability to engage in quests. This is not a chill-out game, that’s for sure.

As your settlement grows, you will face threats on multiple fronts: other tribes, bizarre beasts, hunger and disease, crumbling sanity, and even monstrous gods, who can cast spells on your people. (I am willing to take potentially unspeakable acts to earn powerful spells.) Overall, Gord it looks like it is in a similar headspace to games Frostpunk RimWorld, and Darkest Dungeon

About those quests – Gord uses an “AI-driven” system, according to Covenant.dev. “Main objectives will guide your gameplay, while versatile side quests and random encounters will send you into the wilderness to chase a legendary creature or fight a nasty plague that has infested the region.”

I also like the sound of custom scenarios where “almost anything can be customized”. That feeling arises from the perspective of keeping time fresh, and also from the desire to ultimately win with the annoying scaled back; Don’t starve comes to mind. In Gord, we can change elements such as “the level size, the intensity of raids, the environment in which you play, the types of enemies you will face, starting resources and even the severity of the weather. Don’t forget the horrors.”

The studio, founded by CD Projekt Red and 11 bit studio producer Stan Just, expects a PC launch in 2022 for Gord on Steam. We will definitely keep an eye on it. There is a lot to see in this first screening.

Go ahead and wishlist the game on Steam if you need to (or just wish it in your heart).
