Google Photos is getting a new feature that gives your snapshots a moving 3D makeover.
The “Cinematica Photos” will be added to the Memories collection of your old images and videos from the service.
“Cinematic photos help you relive your memories in a way that feels more vivid and realistic, so you feel like you’re transported back to that moment,” wrote Google Photos product manager Jamie Aspinall in a blog post on Tuesday.

The feature uses machine learning to predict the depth of an image and create a 3D representation of the scene. Then the image is animated to produce a panning effect.

Google Photos will automatically capture the images when the feature is rolled out the Android and iOS app in the coming month. You can turn it on or off by tapping if the effect drives you crazy your account profile photo, then go to Photo settings> Reminders> Advanced> enable / disable cinematic photos.
You will find it in your recent highlights at the top of your photo grid.

Memories also get new themes that show photos of your favorite people and things by analyzing the images you upload. But cinematographic photos are the more eye-catching new addition.
It adds to the suite of AI-powered image editing tools recently released, led by Photoshop’s Neural Filters workspace, which uses machine learning to generate completely new pixels for your photos.
Critics fear they are ruining the art of photography, but they can significantly improve the editing workflow and produce spectacular results, whether you’re a professional shutterbug or a hilarious lens man like me.
