Street View was launched more than ten years ago and this huge image database currently supports the Live View AR function. An update to Google Maps for Android improves the Street View experience by adding a split screen mode.
The new Split View UI starts automatically when you open Street View after dropping a map pin. If you open Street View directly from a location listing, it is the normal full screen interface. In those cases, you will see a ‘minimize’ button in the lower right corner.
The map below contains paths with street-level images highlighted in blue, and 360 ° photos taken by users are shown as dots. You can tap anywhere to jump quickly, while the circular marker for where you are has an arrow indicating the direction being referenced. This navigation method is vastly more convenient than navigating Street View with arrows and drags.
This split Street View screen is being rolled out widely (via Reddit) via a server-side update on recent versions of Google Maps. It is displayed on the Android client, but not iOS. Meanwhile, it has long been available on the Internet with the ability to adjust the height of each half.
