While we waiting for Android 12 to go live officially later this year, Google will have a bunch of tweaks and updates coming to Android this spring.

According to the Update from 2019 Google is now bringing to Chrome Password checking to Android to alert you to potential leaks or data breaches that could expose your existing passwords to hackers. Password checking is rolling out to devices running Android 9 and above, and automatically checks passwords already stored in Android, along with any new ones. If Google notices that your password has been exposed, it will notify you strongly recommending that you change it.

Password checking is important, but let’s get to the good stuff: Google Maps is finally the long-was waiting for official dark mode. And in Google Messages on Android 7 and above, Google adds the ability to send scheduled messages, similar to Gmails scheduled email function All you need to do is write a message as normal and then hold down the send button, which will bring up a new menu that allows you to set an exact time your text will be sent.

Even the Google Assistant gets a minor upgrade, with the option of make calls, set timers and alarms and play music on your phone with voice commands. This means that your Android phone can now be a smart speaker of sorts, helping expand the role of the Google Assistant as something that simply answers questions with these additional automation features.
