General Motors Co. said Thursday it aims to offer only electric vehicles in 15 years and is on track to become a carbon neutral company by 2040.
GM said it has partnered with the nonprofit Environmental Defense Fund “to develop a shared vision of an all-electric future and the ambition to eliminate tailpipe emissions from new light vehicles by 2035.”
The goal is to focus on zero-emission vehicles at a range of prices and partner with others, including EDF, to – build charging networks and drive consumer acceptance ‘while maintaining high-quality jobs, all of which will be needed are to these ambitious goals, ”said GM.

Earlier this year, GM said it will offer 30 all-electric models worldwide by the middle of the decade, and that 40% of the company’s US models will be battery-electric vehicles by the end of 2025.
The automaker will invest $ 27 billion in electric and self-driving vehicles over the next five years, up from the $ 20 billion planned before the COVID-19 pandemic. The plans also include improvements in the fuel efficiency of combustion engine vehicles.
