Giselle López Soler is sworn in as the new magistrate of the federal court in Puerto Rico

Giselle López Soler was sworn in as the new magistrate of the Federal District Court in Puerto Rico today, Friday.

Judge Aida Delgado took the oath in a private ceremony, during which López Soler was accompanied by her husband, Xavier Diví, and the other federal court judges.

“I am very proud to have five excellent magistrate judges again”said the chairman of that judicial forum, Gustavo Gelpí.

He added that “he has known Judge López Soler since she began her legal career as a legal assistant to Judge Salvador Casellas. He always stood out for his intellect, temper and humility. I have no doubt that his extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation will be of great value to the court, the attorneys applying here and their clients.”.

“I am grateful to Judges Aida Delgado Colón and Silvia Carreno Coll, who in recent months have served as extraordinary mentors to Judge López Soler preparing her for her upcoming duties in criminal cases. Likewise to his fellow magistrates who have also made themselves available for him ”, he stated.

In 1997, López Soler received a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Psychology from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, followed by a master’s degree from New York University.

He then graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. From 2004 to 2006, he began his legal career as a legal assistant to Judge Casellas and then at the law firm Méndez & Alvarez, LLC.
