We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for season two, ” showrunner Debra J. Fisher and creator Sarah Lampert said in a statement.

The series follows teenage Ginny and her 30-year-old mother Georgia as they start over in the upscale suburb of Wellsbury.

In season one, Ginny finds herself in a complicated love triangle at her new high school – made even more messy by the fact that she has the hots for her new best friend’s brother, who also happens to be her neighbor.

Meanwhile, her bombshell of a Southern clean mother, Georgia, tries to evade her troubled past as she settles in town – and with the handsome, single mayor … who is also her boss.

The series debuted on February 24, joining Netflix juggernauts like 2021’s Brigerton and Lupine, who were watched by a whopping 52 million subscribers in its first 28 days.

Season one ended with Ginny and Georgia at odds and the teen ran off with her little brother Austin.

The finale also featured a throwaway joke about Taylor Swift’s long list of exes who didn’t quite fit the superstar in today’s climate.

The 31-year-old Grammy winner took to her significant Twitter platform to take to Netflix to air what she called a ‘deeply sexist’ and ‘demeaning’ joke at the time.

Taylor tweeted, ‘Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back,’ Taylor wrote. “Shall we stop humiliating hard-working women by defining this horse as FUNNY.”

She went on with a swipe at Netflix, pointing out, “ Even @netflix after Miss Americana doesn’t look cute on you, ” before adding a heartbroken emoji and noting the irony that the controversy started on the first day of Women’s History Month .

In the episode, teen Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) makes a ready-made comment about Taylor’s dating life while arguing with her mother Georgia about her relationships.

After Georgia questions her daughter if she had sex with anyone, Ginny shouts back, “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift. ‘

Taylor disagreed with this joke, 'What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift. '

Following Taylor’s criticism, Antonia shared a lengthy statement expressing her gratitude for the support of the fans: ‘Thank you for the love and support you have shown me and our show, Ginny and Georgia, over the past week.

‘I could never have imagined something like this as a young girl – that is, having a voice that can have an impact.

It makes so much sense to see the hundreds of messages from fans in my inbox who feel seen, heard and understood by the show and the characters. It was also nice to hear from those who were just happy to join them for an entertaining ride.

Adding in part, “As someone who grew up feeling voiceless and insignificant, and who didn’t see herself reflected on the screen, Ginny Miller finally got a reprieve.”
