(CNN) – Gina Carano, who played the impregnable warrior Cara Dune in “The Mandalorian,” will not appear in future Star Wars projects after sharing offensive posts on social media, including one comparing Nazi Germany to the current political landscape.
Lucasfilm fired Carano on Wednesday, calling the social media posts he had that day “disgusting”.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “However, your social media posts belittling people for their cultural and religious identities are repugnant and unacceptable.”
Carano was also fired by United Talent Agency on Wednesday, Variety reported.
CNN has contacted Lucasfilm and the United Talent Agency and is awaiting a response.

One of Carano’s posts, which he appeared to be republishing from another account, referred to the Holocaust, in which an estimated six million Jews were murdered, and how the circumstances were comparable to today’s political divisions.
“How is that different from hating someone because of his political views?” Read some of the post, said Variety.
He later deleted that story and another story that seemed to poke fun at wearing masks with a photo of a person whose entire head was covered in masks, with the caption “ Meanwhile in California. ”
Carano has not deleted all of the stories he shared on Wednesday, including one that reiterated the conspiracy that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein did not die by suicide.
Other controversies
Gina Carano caused controversy in the fall of 2020 when she turned down requests from fans to post her pronouns in her Twitter bio as a show of support for transgender people. Instead, she wrote “beep / bop / boop” in her biography, which fans seemed to make fun of transgender people with.
Beep / bop / boop has nothing to do with making fun of transgender people (heart emoji) and (100 emoji) it has to do with exposing the mob bullying mentality that has taken over the voices of many genuine causes, ”he wrote in September with a gif of R2-D2. Variety reported that Carano later removed the words from her Twitter bio after speaking with her co-star Pedro Pascal, who said it “helped her understand why people put them in their biographies.” He then said that he supports “freedom to choose”.
Carano also posted about ending the child sex trade with the hashtag #SaveOurChildren. Since the hashtag was co-opted by followers of the QAnon conspiracy, Facebook, owner of Instagram, has limited the visibility of the hashtag on its apps.
His character’s future is unknown
Lucasfilm did not answer whether the role of Carano’s Cara Dune would be played by another actress in “The Mandalorian”. The character played a supporting role in the series as an ally of the protagonist played by Pascal and a friend of Grogu, also known as “Baby Yoda”.
Cara Dune would appear in the upcoming Disney + series, “The Rangers of the New Republic.” But now that Carano has been removed from the Star Wars universe, the character’s future remains unknown.
