Gervonta Davis moves up two weight divisions; will fight with Mario Barrios

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and the title defenses of both Charlo twins (Jermell and Jermall) headline Showtime’s upcoming fight schedule.

Davis will face Mario Barrios for an inferior version of the WBA junior welterweight title on May 26. Barrios (26-0, 17 KOs) currently has the WBA No. 2 tie in the division, while Davis (24-0, 23 KOs) is moving up two weight divisions after beating Leo Santa Cruz in a fight. Jermell Charlo (34-1, 18 KOs) and Brian Castano (17-0-1, 12 KOs) will fight to crown an undisputed junior middleweight champion on July 17. Charlo is the IBF, WBA and WBC champion in the division, while Castano holds the WBO belt.

Considered one of the best middleweights in the world, Jermall Charlo (31-0, 22 KO’s) will face Juan Montiel on June 19 in a bout with a unique historical context. That date is also a celebration of when the end of slavery was officially declared in Texas in 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Both Charlo twins will fight in Houston.

Other title fights include Luis Nery against Brandon Figueroa for the WBC Junior Featherweight belt on May 15th and Nordine Oubaali-Nonito Donaire on May 29th for the WBC Bantamweight title.
