A coronavirus vaccination site in Georgia became the fourth US site this week to pause administration of the Johnson & Johnson shot after concerns about potential side effects, a report said.
Eight people experienced dizziness after getting the photo at the Cumming Fairgrounds on Wednesday, although health officials believe it may have been simply caused by the hot weather, WSB-TV reported.
“It was a fainting problem,” Dave Palmer, North Georgia Health District spokesman, told the outlet.
‘We don’t think it has anything to do with the vaccine. It’s probably more environmental factors, ”said Palmer.
Side effects were contracted by less than 2% of the 435 people who received the vaccine on the spot, the report said.
“That facility is difficult to cool, and we do have fans there, but it was a warmer day,” Palmer told the station. ‘I think the heat may have had something to do with it. We are not sure. “
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was also discontinued over the past week at locations in Colorado, North Carolina and Iowa.
