Gen Z thinks skinny jeans are out of fashion: what to wear

Cancel culture is coming for millennials and you will want to get to know this new fashion trend.

According to Gen Z, skinny jeans are now officially over. The trend was brought to the fore on TikTok, with videos condemning the skintight pants and calling for immediate removal from all closets in some very dramatic ways.

In this melodramatic and hopefully sarcastic video from user @momohkd, she instructs her 410,000 viewers to throw the pants away, set fire to or cut something new. At least the last option was thrifty, right?

Millennials and up are understandably upset by this sudden switch to baggy pants, as skinny jeans are a staple for most and thought to be the next step after the baggy mom jeans and super low-rise denim of the ’90s.

User @ Takingmylifebackat42 used the platform to not only hit back on this drastic jeans cancellation, but also invoked more trends that the younger generation either canceled prematurely or claimed to have created, including the middle hair part, scrunchies and ‘flared leggings’ . which are clearly just yoga pants.

With that being said, maybe Gen Z has a point, and it doesn’t hurt to expand our pants wardrobe a bit to keep up with the times.

Since skinny jeans are tight and we spend more time working from home anyway, here are some looser and cooler options to try, from wide leg denim to mom and dad jeans and everything in between.
