Even though we are almost three months off As of the launch of the next generation of consoles, the new PlayStation 5 and PS5 Digital Edition systems are still extremely difficult to obtain. According to AMD, these shortages could persist for most of 2021. While the consoles can be hard to find, there are still many exciting PS5 exclusives in the pipeline.
If you’re trying to grab a PS5 before Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon Forbidden West, or Gran Turismo 7, these are the retailers you should look at and the services you need to keep track of inventory.
PopFindr, OctoShop and other tools to find PS5 consoles
While you will want to monitor retailer websites, many tools will take some of the work off your hands to monitor them 24/7. First, you should have notifications for your favorite store and accounts like @GameTimes, @ PS5StockAlerts, and @ Wario64 who consistently tweet about where and when restocking takes place.
As for tools, OctoShop is an extension that checks websites for you and lets you know when PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition consoles become available. If you want to find local store stock, PopFindr is a better choice. Getting a PS5 is hard, but these tools should help you find PS5 consoles at the following stores.
GameStop
This is the only GameStop stock that is currently failing. While the most prominent game retailer and the center of a recent stock market controversy, GameStop has only sporadically listed new PS5 shares.
GameStop didn’t say when the next major PS5 addition will be, but you should keep an eye on their PS5 Shop page and PS5 Digital Edition page (in addition to the stock price).
Target
Target has been a reliable source of PS5 consoles since its launch, especially in-store. You can use PopFindr to see if your local Target has stock. If not, you will have to wait for the next online supplement. Make sure to keep an eye on their PS5 hub page throughout the month of February.
PlayStation Direct
If you want to buy a console directly from Sony, this is the website to use. That said, every time there is a restocking at PlayStation Direct, you will be queued up for a chance to win a PS5 instead of just buying one. But if you find out that the queue is open from the above sources, go to the PS5 Standard Edition or PS5 Digital Edition store pages on this website.
Walmart
As the largest retailer in the US, many people get PS5s from Walmart. While it can be difficult to get a console from them as restocks disappear almost instantly, they are one of the most consistent retailers when it comes to restocking PS5s. No new resupply dates have been announced, but you can always follow the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition store pages
Best Buy
While Best Buy is a fairly steady seller for PS5 consoles, it hasn’t been topped up since mid-January. Because of this long gap, it is possible that another stock may lie ahead in early February. If so, you’ll want to keep an eye on the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition store pages when this happens.
Amazon
It’s hard to get a PS5 from the most popular internet retailer as they don’t announce when they will replenish the system. Amazon has listed PS5 units since launch, but you really have to be at the top of your game to get one. Use tools like OctoShop and the Twitter accounts we’ve listed to try and get a PS5 console as soon as it becomes available with them. When it goes live, it will be on their special PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition lists.
