* 99.9% chance of it coming back on March 1st

LOS ANGELES, FEBRUARY 16, 2021 – After a phenomenal mid-pandemic beta launch, the cultural event of Blaseball, an absurd browser-based simulation of baseball with very normal events like burns, rogue referees and a JRPG-style boss fight against a peanut god returns on March 1, just in time for Spring Training 2021. Is this timing actually relevant? Could be. Probably not.

To celebrate the arrival of their next iteration, Beta but Better, The Game Band’s video game maestros thought it would be great to finally hire a few PR people to explain what Blaseball is on the cusp of reaching the masses, while highlighting some fun upcoming features and items that will impact next season. Grab a snack and buckle up, everyone.

You see, Blaseball is the D&D of sports. The DM is your older brother and you are the chaotic sibling with a thirst for power. The game follows what you and the fanbase vote, including bending the rules to the point where new rules are created. Blaseball simulates seasons at an accelerated pace: with a game every hour and a season every week. Players bet coins on every match, hoping to enrich themselves enough to influence the votes for the post-season election taking place the following Sunday. Then a new chaos ensues and fans have to face the consequences of their choices.

New important features:

  • Concessions! You can now buy snacks! Voices are snacks too.
  • Mysterious weekly team tarot lectures.
  • The food: an easier way to keep track of events as they happen so you don’t always catch up in disagreement or on twitter!
  • The long-awaited CrabitatThe crabs get their ballpark and then [redacted]
  • Wills: Deeper strategy for each team. Your community organization goes even further than before.
  • In season and in low season: New pacing of 3 weeks on and 2 weeks off, with the latter offering fans the downtime they need to stay up to date on recaps, media and events through The Feed. The Game Band may even have some surprise events planned
About Blaseball

Blaseball is an absurd, player-driven, corrupt, online baseball game. It’s a simplistic simulation of a sport, built in the void of real sports, where players can watch the competition, bet on it and twist it.

The main difference between Blaseball and baseball is the participation of players. Gambling is allowed and encouraged. Players earn and lose a virtual one Blaseball currency by placing bets on the games, and they will cash in their earnings to make changes to the competition. The teams, the players on the team, the rosters and even the rules of the game are subject to change by the community.

Blaseball is almost baseball. There is a single league of bogus teams, with bogus players and bogus schedules. Seasons of Blaseball are simulated over several days. Teams will win and lose, storylines will emerge, and Blaseball history will be written.
