Frankfort couple scores big in the Kentucky Lottery on their 30th anniversary

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – A couple from Frankfort hit it big in the Kentucky Lottery on their celebrated 30th wedding anniversary.

The couple wants to remain anonymous, but the man told lottery officials that he doesn’t play Cash Ball 225 very often but had gone to East Wood Shell on Versailles Road in Frankfort to play his Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers when he decided on a Cash Ball 225 ticket for the March 9 draw.

The next morning, he retrieved the winning numbers on his phone using the lottery app to check his tickets. He checked his Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets, but won nothing.

“I was like, oh wait, I have to check a Cash Ball ticket,” he said. “I always look at the Cash Ball number first and yes, I fit. I looked at the other number, I matched and then the other number, I matched and then the other number I matched. I blinked and looked at the last number, realizing I had all the numbers, ”he told the lottery officials. “I fell down in the chair,” he said.

He was going to show his wife when he told her to get her glasses.

“I think I’m dreaming,” he told her.

She looked at the card and sure enough, he had put all the numbers together.

“We got tickled to death,” said his wife.

He told lottery officials that they were both going to work that day.

“It was definitely not a normal working day,” he said.

He drove to Louisville on Thursday to the lottery headquarters, where he received an after-tax check for $ 159,751.42.

The couple said they have been renting a house their entire married life and are going to look into purchasing a home.
