Four shots killed a 53-year-old man in Soyapango | News from El Salvador

Héctor Orlando Cordero Solís, 53, died this afternoon after receiving at least four shots, two to the head, while walking on Roosevelt Street, in the Soyapango borough.

The victim was near the municipal cemetery when a subject, dressed in dark clothes and on a black motorcycle, opened fire on him.

The body of Cordero Solís was left on the sidewalk, in front of a barbershop, while the killer took flight.

Thanks to the fact that the incident was captured with a video surveillance camera, the National Civil Police (PNC) launched a strong operation in the area, resulting in the arrest of a suspect in Cordero Solís’s death.

He is an active member of the Mara Salvatrucha, who was imprisoned in the Duarte Meléndez community of the same municipality. During the proceedings, the motorcycle from which he allegedly attacked the victim was also found.

Cordero Solís, as confirmed by the PNC, was an active member of the 18-faction Sureños gang. The PNC reported that the site of the incident is a border area between the two gangs.
