JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former Notre Dame and NFL footballer Louis Neix, who was reported missing earlier this week and found dead on Saturday. He was 29 years old. The cause of death was not stated.
Nix’s family reported her missing to the police on Wednesday. After several days of searching, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office tweeted at 8 p.m. Saturday that Nix had been located, but he did not report his condition.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Nix was last seen on Wednesday at 10 p.m. after leaving his father’s house in Jacksonville. Kelly tweeted out on Saturday morning asking for the public’s help to find him.
Nix was injured in a shooting in December while servicing his car at a gas station near Jacksonville airport. He shared on social media that he spent 10 days in the hospital and that a bullet ricocheted off his sternum and entered his lung.
Nix performed at Raines High School in Jacksonville and played for three seasons at Notre Dame before being selected in the third round by the Houston Texans in 2014. Nix, a defensive tackle, never played a game for Texans due to knee injuries and played only four games for the Texans in 2015.
