Former Michigan QB Joe Milton chooses Tennessee, sources say; sat on the college football transfer portal since February

Former Michigan quarterback Joe Milton plans to transfer to Tennessee, sources told ESPN Monday.

Milton hit the transfer portal in February and is expected to graduate in May, making him eligible to play for the Vols this season.

The Vols are looking for a starting quarterback as they transition to freshman coach Josh Heupel’s new up-tempo attack. Milton was a starter for Michigan in 2020. In five starts, he passed for 1,077 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions, but was replaced in Michigan’s last game a year ago.

The 6-foot-5,243-pound Milton has three years left to qualify and is listed as an active student on the Tennessee student list. He is on track to begin his academic studies in Tennessee during the summer semester.

Volquest.com was the first to report Milton’s upcoming transfer to Tennessee.
