Senator of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), Javier Aponte Dalmau, confirmed that former lawmaker Fernando Tonos was withdrawing from the contract that would be awarded this four-year period after criticizing convictions for corruption in the past.
Aponte confirmed on radio station Noti Uno 630 that the hiring of Tono in the Senate will no longer go ahead, but former popular lawmaker Charlie Hernández will replace him.

As for the public response to the Tonos contract, Senator Aponte Dalmau accused the Puerto Ricans of being hypocritical for “not offering second chances.”
