Arik Gilbert – a former five-star recruit as 247Sports Composite’s # 5 overall prospect, # 1 tight end and # 1 player in Georgia for the 2020 class – took to Twitter and announced a transfer decision Sunday night. After officially entering the NCAA transfer portal on Jan. 5, about a month after his opt-out from the 2020 season at LSU, Gilbert said in a tweet that he has committed to Florida.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to enroll in the University of Florida. This is the best situation for me and I am excited to join the family.” Gilbert said, adding a “100” emoji at the end of the tweet.
