Forget Meghan versus Kate … Grandma Carole has enough on her hands with Pippa Middleton’s new baby

  • Grandma Carole was happy to lend a hand after the birth of Pippa’s daughter
  • She described herself as a hands-on nanny with her grandchildren in an interview
  • Carole, 66, drove to the £ 17 million six-bedroom house in West London

Undoubtedly, Carole Middleton has already lent a shoulder to cry on for her eldest daughter, following Meghan’s injured flank in THAT interview.

But last week it was the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister, Pippa Middleton, who needed her mother’s help.

Weighing in at 6lb 7oz, Grace is her second child with hedge fund boss husband James Matthews, 45.

Carole, believed to be part of Pippa’s Covid support bubble, drove to the six-bedroom couple’s six-bedroom West London home on Thursday afternoon.

After cooing about the new arrival, she took care of two-year-old Arthur while Pippa, 37, and James dated Grace and their nanny.

For Carole, it may have been a welcome relief to be at the center of such a happy event after the unpleasant consequences of Harry and Meghan’s all-telling interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping UK magazine earlier this year, she described herself as ‘hands on’ with her grandchildren.

“I want to run down the hills, climb the trees and go through the tunnel at the playground,” she said. ‘As long as I can, I’m going to do that. I cook with them, I dance chubby, we go on bike rides. ‘

She added: ‘I’m not one to sit on the couch for long. I have a lot of energy. ‘

Pippa and James, who married in May 2017, are said to have paid tribute to their respective families by choosing Elizabeth and Jane as middle names for their daughter.

Elizabeth is Carole’s middle name and Kate’s, while James’s mother is called Jane.
