Five New York women reporters leave the station after a discrimination settlement

Five Spectrum NY1 anchors leave the news station after settling a lawsuit based on gender and age.

As The Wrap reports, Roma Torre, Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Vivian Lee and Amanda Farinacci last year accused NY1 and its parent company Charter Communications of discriminating against older women and favoring younger, less experienced reporters and anchors.

The group of journalists said in a joint statement on Thursday that they had reached a deal that they said would be confidential.

“We are pleased to announce that we have reached a confidential resolution of our lawsuit against Charter / NY1. After having engaged in a lengthy dialogue with NY1, we believe it is in everyone’s interest – ours, NY1 and our viewers – that this dispute be resolved and we have mutually agreed to part ways, ”said the group .

“We want to thank everyone who has supported us during these times – please know that the support of each person has made a real difference.”

A Spectrum Networks spokesperson said in a statement, “ We are pleased to announce that we have reached a confidential resolution to the lawsuit filed by Roma Torre, Kristen Shaughnessy, Jeanine Ramirez, Vivian Lee and Amanda Farinacci and as a result we mutually agreed to part ways. We would like to thank them for their many years of dedicated service in reporting the news for New Yorkers and wish them the best in their future endeavors. “
