Five missiles hit a base with US troops in Iraq

Samarra, Iraq

Five missiles hit in one on Sunday Iraqi air base with US planes and at least two affected subcontractor facilities, a security source told the AFP news agency.

According to the same source, five people were injured, including two US subcontractors and three Iraqi soldiers.

F-16 fighter-bombers are stationed at the base of Balad, North of Baghdad, and several companies are there to interview Iraqi and foreign workers.

Of the five rockets launched on Sunday, two hit a bedroom and another in the dining room of the American company in Sallyport, indicated the security source.

At this point, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, although US authorities have denied the pro-Iranian militias, allies of the Iraqi army, to organize attacks on its troops and diplomats.

After Joe Biden’s arrival at the White House in January numerous missile or bomb attacks took place against US soldiers or diplomatic representatives present in Iraq.

These hostilities took a notch on Wednesday after pro-Iranian factions carried out the first suicide drone attack in Iraq against a US base in Erbil, in the north of the country.
