At the State of Play event in February, Sony announced a new chapter for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, called Intergrade, which will be released on June 10, 2021.
In Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade, Yuffie, an optional playable character from Final Fantasy 7, stars Midgar as she tries to steal rare materials from Shinra Corp – the evil company Cloud and the crew also fight against in the main storyline.
Sony didn’t say how big an Intergrade content update will be, but the trailer for the additional content said it will bring some graphics enhancements such as better reflective lighting and particle effects, in addition to faster loading times and a new photo mode.
From the sound of this tweet, the additional content will only be available on PS5 for an undisclosed price, but Sony says gamers will be able to transfer their save data from PS4 to PS5 when the DLC comes out later this year. Of course, gamers can also get a free upgrade to the PS5 version from the PS4 version.
Better than ‘Noffie’
While fans are already chewing on the second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Intergrade looks like it will act as some sort of filler episode to introduce a new character and improvements, while the core team continues to work on the next part. of the game.
In some ways, it’s actually fitting for Yuffie to be included in the Interlude chapter, as it really harks back to the character’s origins as an optional side character. That’s good news: gamers who don’t want to spend extra money on DLC won’t miss out on major plot points, while diehard fans can still get the full experience by forcing some more while they wait for the next game to finish. .
That said, if Yuffie’s chapter is only available in the PS5 version of the game, that can be difficult for PS4 owners who haven’t upgraded yet due to PS5 restocking issues.
As for when we’ll actually see Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, it’s a mystery right now, but with some delays in hitting Sony’s first-party games right now, it wouldn’t be surprising if we had to wait until 2022 – or even 2023 – to see the final showdown between Cloud and Sephiroth.
