Lionel Messi was withdrawn from FIFA’s Team of the Year (TOTY) for the first time in its history.
EA Sports have led the team, which used to be based on FIFPro’s World XI of the Year, since Ultimate Team mode began in FIFA 09.
Since that edition Messi has been included in every TOTY so far. This year, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappé picked up the front spots.
The rest of the team consists of Manuel Neuer in purpose; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Sergio Ramos, Virgil van Dijk and Alphonso Davies in defense; while Kevin de Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Kimmich form the midfield.
Unlike previous years Ramos is the only representative of LaLiga Santander in the XI.
The champions of the people.
