The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has secured three properties, including a mansion, owned by the former secretary of public security, Genaro García Luna, as part of the investigation into illegal fortification for 27 million pesos.
The properties are located on Paseo de los Cedros, street number 1, Paseos del Sur district, office of the mayor of Xochimilco, (restaurant); Monte del Funiar street No. 21, Jardines en la Montaña district, office of the Mayor of Tlalpan. Both addresses are in Mexico City.
Another of the properties is on Amate Street without a number, lots 12 and 13 of block 22, Fraccionamiento Pedregal de las Fuentes, in the municipality of Jiutepec, Morelos.
The foregoing is derived from the arrest warrant issued by the Federal Criminal Justice Center’s Control Judge at North Prison on November 27 this year for the above-mentioned crime.
The residence in Jardines en la Montaña is located in one of the most exclusive areas in the south of Mexico City. The properties in that subdivision are priced in dollars, and access to the subdivision prevents anyone from entering it.
As for the property located in Pedregal de las Fuentes, in Jiutepec, Morelos, “it is a mansion spanning several countries, in a privileged residential area of that state.” The building has high gates that are monitored with an advanced video surveillance system.. In addition to the main entrance, it has a door at the back, strategically located for exit in an emergency.
“Another detail that sets this property apart is a boom barrier at the front, which separates the street from the main gate, preventing anyone from the outside from observing who is entering or leaving. In addition, it has a stream of crystalline water in the front, this is a detail that characterizes it as few properties have this privilege. It is located in a private area with controlled access to the interior of the residential area, giving the residents of the housing more privacy”, Detailed the Attorney General of the Republic.
The property located in Xochimilco is currently an exclusive restaurant occupying one corner. The property is spread over two floors and distinguishes itself from the rest of the surrounding buildings by its luxurious finish.
Earlier this month, the government of Mexico requested that the United States extradite the former Secretary of Public Security so that he can be tried for his alleged responsibility for the crime of illicit enrichment for 27 million pesos.
The petition has been filed with the US Department of Justice.
A Federal Criminal Justice Center investigating judge assigned to the maximum security prison in the Altiplano, Mexico State, issued the arrest warrant, supporting the extradition request, they explained.
The court order was diverted because the former official failed to verify the origin of 27 million pesos used to buy real estate in Mexico.
Genaro García Luna is detained in New York awaiting trial, where he will be charged for his alleged relationship with drug trafficking.
