Federals offer reward for information to catch “Wasa”

Federal authorities offered a reward of $ 25,000 for information helping to capture the fugitive Carlos Cotto Cruz, aka “Wasa.”

The reward was offered by the Federal Agency for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF, for its acronym in English).

Cotto Cruz has been a fugitive from federal court since 2019 for violating probation conditions in a gun and drug trafficking case, but has also recently been charged with criminal charges in the state sphere.

Cotto Cruz is one of seven men against whom a judge has found cause for arrest this week for the double murder recorded in San Lorenzo on December 4, where two other people were injured.

The prosecution filed 105 complaints against the seven subjects, for which a global bond of $ 17.85 million was imposed.

“We are working with federal authorities to seek the cooperation of the people of Puerto Rico to arrest this subject, which is believed to be armed and dangerous,” said Alexis Torres, the designated secretary of the Department of Public Security.

“We request that anyone who has information that helps us reach the suspect to inform us confidentially,” he added.

On the other hand, the police commissioner, Antonio López Figueroa, indicated that the fugitive, 33, has been described as a white-skinned man, five feet tall and weighing about 155 pounds with eyes and hair.

“The union of all sectors is essential to be able to arrest and prosecute dangerous subjects such as Carlos Cotto Cruz. Regardless of the information that citizens have, however minimal it may seem, it can lead us to find their place of residence and contribute to justice for the victims of crime. I have every confidence that the Puerto Rican people will come forward again and join the police to fight violence in our streets, ”the commissioner explained.
