Feb. 2, 2021 Another 17 COVID-19 deaths reported in Utah.

It’s about 16%, which is more than three times what government officials hope to see.

According to the Utah Department of Health, the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in Utah remained stable at just over 16%. That’s still more than three times the 5% rate that state health officials say the coronavirus is under control.

And the number of deaths rose by 17 – although six of them occurred before January 13 and are not reported until now after test results are confirmed.

Vaccinations reported in the past day / total vaccinations • 13,672 / 325,457.

Cases reported in the past day • 1,201.

Deaths reported in the past day • 17.

Salt Lake County reported nine deaths: two men, ages 25 to 44; a man and a woman 45 to 64; two men 45 to 64; and two men and a woman over 85.

There were three deaths in Washington County: a woman aged 45 to 64; and two women over 85.

Two Utah County residents died, both women over 85.

And there was one death each in Cache County (a man aged 85 and older); Davis County (a woman aged 65 to 84); and Weber County (a woman aged 65 to 84).

Hospital admissions reported in the past day • 396. That’s six less from Monday. Of those currently hospitalized, 130 are in intensive care units – one more than on Monday.

Tests reported in the past day • 7,499.

Percentage of positive tests • 16.02%. That’s about the same as the seven-day average of 16.6%.

Totals so far • 348,409 cases; 1,685 dead; 13,576 hospital admissions; 2,035,662 tests.
