FC Barcelona – La Liga Interest in fellow countryman
Mauricio Pochettino flirted with the idea of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 33-year-old’s contract with Barcelona is at the end of this season with PSG one of the clubs said it was interested in signing him.
“The club has a strategy to improve,” PSG boss Pochettino told RMC Sport.
“Like the opportunity to coach Messi it would be great. But if not, it’s not a problem. “
“[Messi and I] share our love for Newell’s. We both wore that shirt, we have that link. But we’ll see. You don’t know what the future holds for us or whether our paths will cross. “
If he moved to the Parc des Princes, Messi would join a strong Argentine contingent at the club, with Pochettino, Angel Di Maria and Leonardo Paredes already there.
He would also reunite with former Barcelona teammate Neymar, as well as colleague forward Kylian Mbappé.
‘I think they will both stay PSG for a long time,” Pochettino added Neymar and Mbappé.
“I have no doubt about that. I am very optimistic and the club is working hard to be successful in talks and to keep both.
“Instead of just information, I have that feeling. But this is how I see it: Mbappe and Neymar are happy, they are enjoying themselves here and the club is working to keep them both. “
