T.he Supercopa de Espana did not end the road Lionel Messi and Barcelona wanted, with the Argentinian being sent off in the last moments, which was a blow to the star.
Barcelona led Athletic Club by one goal as the last minute of the game approached, but a goal of Asier Villalibre sent the match in extra time, in which Inaki Williams the winner failed.
According to Sports Four, Messi was most despondent in the locker room after the game, and disappointed with what had happened. He apologized to his teammates for the red card shown to him.
In his match report, referee Jesus Gil Manzano indicated that Messi was sent away for hitting an opponent with his arm with excessive force.
Now we have to wait and see what punishment Messi will be given, for what was his very first red card Barcelona. If the race committee finds that number 10 has been aggressive, he can be banned from four to twelve matches.
Should he be charged with a lesser offense, Messi can be one to three games out.
