Barcelona expects to hold elections on Jan. 24 to determine the next president of the club, but this date may change if the COVID-19 situation in Spain worsens, but the candidate Joan Laporta believes it would be very strange if the elections were to be suspended.
Laporta presented a list of more than 10,000 signatures in support of his candidacy Monday afternoon, more than double that of his closest rival, Victor font.
“We had a lot of faith in the work our campaign team was doing. It would be very strange if the elections were put on hold,” Laporta declared.
“I’ve always been optimistic, I’ve seen a campaign with a very good atmosphere.
“This result is spectacular, I think the right measures have been taken to protect the elections, there is no objective reason why [they would be delayed]. “
