FBI Releases New Video About Capitol Riot

The FBI released new footage of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol on Thursday, asking the public for help in identifying rioters who attacked police officers during the uprising.

The videos shows attackers attacking officers with fists, clubs, unknown chemical sprays and even a device that resembles a truncheon or cattle prod.

In one clip, a man can be seen in a crowd fighting with law enforcement officers while handling an apparently electroshock device. He repeatedly jabs the bat-like device at cops while emitting a loud buzz and bright flashes.

“These individuals can be seen on video committing flagrant crimes against those who have dedicated their lives to protecting the American people,” Steven D’Antuono, head of the FBI field office in Washington, said in a video statement.

He added that the agency has arrested more than 300 people accused of participating in the riot, including more than 65 accused of assaulting law enforcement officials.

“We are grateful to members of the public who have already been of great help in these studies,” he added. “We know it can be a difficult decision to report information about family, friends or colleagues, but it is the right choice and the FBI continues to need your help to identify these suspects.”

The additional footage comes days after two men were arrested and charged with assaulting police officers for allegedly spraying a group of law enforcement officers with an unknown chemical irritant during the riot. According to prosecuting documents, Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick who died on Jan. 7 was among those attacked by the two men.

Authorities have still not revealed Sicknick’s cause of death and have not claimed that the two men arrested this week were responsible.
