The FBI said it received a tip from a former romantic partner that she is featured in a video.
The FBI is investigating whether a woman who allegedly participated in the January 6 attack on the US Capitol stole a computer or hard drive from home speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office with the intention of selling it to Russian intelligence.
According to an FBI criminal complaint filed in federal court in Washington, DC, a witness called the FBI with a tip that a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania woman named Riley June Williams is featured in a video published by ITV , a British broadcasting network. , depicting Williams’s presence in the Capitol during the riot.
The witness told the FBI that he or she used to be a romantic partner of Williams. The witness claimed to have spoken to friends of Williams who allegedly showed the witness a video of Williams “taking a laptop or hard drive from Pelosi’s office,” the complaint said.
The sale to Russia failed, according to the witness account described by the FBI in the complaint, and Williams “still has or destroyed the computing device.” The case remains under investigation, the document said.
The complaint alleges that Williams committed the criminal violations of entering restricted buildings and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. She is not charged with stealing Pelosi’s computer.
Williams’ whereabouts are unknown.
“It appears that WILLIAMS has fled,” the document said, and “sometime after January 6, 2021, WILLIAMS changed her phone number and deleted what I believe were her social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Telegram and Parler.”
Williams’ mother told local law enforcement officers in Harrisburg that her daughter grabbed a bag and left, telling her mother she would be away for a few weeks, but according to the complaint, she had no information about her destination.
Screengrabs from the ITV video appear in the complaint. In them, Williams appears to be wearing a brown jacket and green shirt.
The complaint also contains links to ITV videos, including one featuring an interview with a woman identified by ITV as Williams’ mother, who describes her daughter as “empathetic and loving.”
It comes as new images of alleged rioters surfaced on the Senate floor, including Jacob Chansley who, authorities say, can be seen wearing a fur-lined hat with horns, standing in the Senate field where Vice President Mike Pence sat before he was evacuated.
According to court documents, Chansley left a chilling note for Pence.
“It’s only a matter of time, justice is coming,” he wrote according to court documents. The video appears to show him reading the note out loud.
Chansley pleaded not guilty and was held pending trial.
In a video by Luke Mogelson from The New Yorker, released over the weekend, rioters and others are seen walking the US Senate floor and suggesting that President Donald Trump wanted them there.
In another part, a riot can hear a riot against Capitol Police operatives say, “You’re in the minority! There are f —— million of us – and we’re listening to Trump – your boss.”
Jenna Ryan, a Texas real estate agent charged with unlawful entry and disorderly conduct, also claimed she was acting on Trump’s behalf and wants him to pardon her.
“I don’t feel ashamed of guilt in my heart for what I was doing. I thought I was following my president. I thought I was following what we were called to do,” she told local news channel KTVT.
