WASHINGTON – Dr. Anthony Fauci predicts it will be an “open season” for vaccinations in the US by April as supply grows, allowing most people to receive injections to protect against COVID-19.
Speaking to NBC’s “Today Show,” Fauci, who serves as President Biden’s scientific adviser, said vaccinations will skyrocket in the coming months. He commends upcoming deliveries of the two approved vaccines, the possible approval of a third and the steps the Biden government is taking to increase the country’s capacity to deliver doses.
He says, “By the time we get there in April,” it will be “open season, which is that virtually anyone and everyone in any category can start vaccinating.”
He warned that it will take “several more months” to logistically give injections to adult Americans, but predicted herd immunity could be achieved by the end of the summer.
