Americans who hope for one coronavirus vaccines that are not in a priority group may have to wait another month or two, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci. The country’s foremost infectious disease expert recently predicted that everyone wanted a vaccine could get one in Aprilbut now he says they should wait until late spring or summer.
“I hoped that would be the end of April,” says Fauci told CNN on Tuesdays. “That timeline will likely be extended to mid to late May and early June.”
April’s forecast was based on the expectation that Johnson & Johnson would have more doses available, Fauci said.
Even if enough doses become available in the coming months, Fauci warned it will take time to give the vaccines to everyone.
“It could take until June, July and August for everyone to finally get vaccinated. When you hear how long it will take to get the vast majority of the population vaccinated, I don’t think anyone would disagree that it will be okay. come the end of summer and we come early fall, ”he said.
President Biden told a CNN town hall on Tuesday that sufficient doses would be available for anyone who wants one by the end of July.
