Fantasian, World of Demons, and a bunch of other games hit Apple Arcade today

Time to burn off that battery life

Fantasian, the new dioramic RPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, launched on Apple Arcade. But as it turned out, that wasn’t the only game coming to the service.

Apple today announced that more than 30 games are coming to the gaming subscription service, spanning new games and old classics. In addition to the new originals, Apple launched two new categories: Timeless Classics and App Store Greats.

The Classics section has some old standards – a chess and backgammon app, for example, as well as the pretty solid Good Sudoku by Zach GageApp Store Greats, meanwhile, includes a number of mobile classics with no ads and fully unlocked, including Fruit Ninja Classic Mini Metro, and Threes!, which for me is personally responsible for many hours lost.

A big surprise is PlatinumGames’ World of Demons, the mobile action game first shown in 2018 and which later quietly disappeared, has landed on the Apple Arcade list. It has some really eye-catching, Okami-like visuals for the story of samurai and yokai.

And of course there is Fantasian, which has a really interesting combat system that allows you to deposit monsters in a pocket dimension and fight them all at once. Plus, it has a ton of miniatures and dioramas that look really nice.

As an Android owner, I am admittedly a bit jealous. Hopefully Fantasian finds its way into other services like some of the other Arcade hits like Grinding stone to have. Check out the Apple blog for the full list of games coming to the service, including some real surprises like Taiko no Tatsujin: Pop Tap Beat and the swiping RPG Reigns
