Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans, or at least some fans of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite game, think they’ve figured out who the next DLC character is. That said, and as you might expect, the theory behind it is a bit complicated, although it isn’t unreasonable. If theory is up to anything, the next game DLC character or last DLC character is Master Chief, the game’s main character. Halo series and a long-rumored and in-demand character, whose appearance seemed unlikely after the additions of Banjo and Minecraft Steve.
The theory kicks off with the recent report from several reliable sources that there’s some sort of Nintendo x Xbox announcement coming this fall, and apparently it’s quite substantial. Unfortunately, there is no word at this point what this announcement will be, but an Xbox character is coming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would certainly fit in with something insiders might be aware of, but that’s also within the realm of reason. In fact, it’s superficially unclear what it could be other than perhaps something to do with Xbox Game Pass.

Either way, the theory doesn’t count on this alone. Right on the back of these reports, the official Halo Instagram account shared some fan art, not from Halo infinite, but Mario characters re-imagined as Halo characters. And this was accompanied by a somewhat suggestive description. This can’t be anything, of course, but it certainly caught the attention of Nintendo and Xbox fans alike, especially with the aforementioned context very fresh in the minds of both.
As you might expect, Nintendo and Xbox have not commented on this speculation going around, and both sides are unlikely to, but if either does, we’ll update the story accordingly. In the meantime, take all of this with a grain of salt, because it is all speculation. It is not groundless speculation, but it is still nothing more than speculation.
