Family says child protection services were called before Holly Township’s 3-year-old girl passed away

HOLLY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The family of a 3-year-old girl from Holly Township who died Saturday said she had severe bruises and internal bleeding.

Michigan State Police are investigating Trinity Chandler’s death. Christine Cunningham is Trinity’s grandmother. Christine Cunningham said her daughter received a text message from her boyfriend on Saturday morning.

It said, ‘Something’s wrong with Trinity, she’s not getting up. “So he took her to the fire department,” said Christine Cunningham.

Police said the mother’s boyfriend had been taken into custody.

Trinity Chandler is Ronda Osterberg’s second cousin.

“How can you just drop her off at a fire station instead of calling 911?” Ronda Osterberg said.

“Something’s wrong,” said Christine Cunningham. “Then why not call the emergency center and have the ambulance come there?”

The family said someone had contacted the child protection service in the past about concerns about Trinity’s well-being.

‘They failed her. They have failed her enormously, ”said Ronda Osterberg. “There were two black eyes, there was a bruise on her cheek – CPS closed the suitcase.”

The family said they were devastated.

“She was loved,” said Christine Cunningham.
